Uniland’s Sean Flury Cultivates
Urban Land Institute Young Leaders Group

The landscape of Buffalo is being revitalized and a new generation of professionals is ready to help shape its future.

Project Analyst Sean Flury has established a Young Leaders Group within the Western New York Chapter of Urban Land Institute (ULI) to host relevant industry discussions and networking opportunities for members in the early years of their careers. ULI is the oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate and land use experts in the world.

ULI‘s membership encompasses professionals in the fields of architecture, engineering, government, transportation, urban planning, and beyond. The local chapter has over 150 members.

“As members of the land use and development fields, this group will offer networking and learning opportunities with peers, veteran practitioners and experts in the field,” says Flury, a member of the firm’s Development team. As chair of the group, he and the steering committee are currently planning ULI Young Leaders Group events for the fall.

A graduate of University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning’s inaugural Master of Science program in Architecture and Real Estate Development, he is excited to work with peers to develop programming that is relevant to them. “We want to create opportunities for young professionals here in Western New York.”

Flury builds on Uniland’s ongoing engagement with ULI, of which the company is a chapter sponsor. Carl J. Montante, Jr., Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Initiatives, has served on the chapter’s Board of Directors and Senior Development Manager Kellena Kane is a co-founder and member of the chapter’s Women’s Leadership Initiative’s Executive Steering Committee.  She includes the ULI’s UrbanPlan educational programming as part of her Masters of Real Estate Development course at the University at Buffalo.

The Delaware North Building

In 2017, Uniland won a statewide award for Excellence in Mixed-Use Development from ULI for The Delaware North Building at 250 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo’s central business district. The project was recently highlighted in the organization’s flagship publication, Urban Land Magazine.
