Uniland Development Company was recognized with the 2019 Corporate Leadership Award from Niagara University’s College of Business Administration. The company’s commitment to excellent and its philanthropic culture were highlighted during the College of Business Administration’s 29th Annual Business and Accounting Awards Dinner.
According to the award citation, “Uniland has helped make Western New York a better place due to the vision, determination and leadership of President and Managing Director Carl J. Montante and his children Laura A. Zaepfel, vice president of Corporate Relations, Carl J. Montante, Jr., vice president of Marketing and Strategic Initiatives, and Michael J. Montante, vice president, Development. Led by their guiding principles, ‘Integrity, Professionalism, Excellence, Innovation, Customer Focus, and Team Focus’, we are pleased to honor Uniland Development Company with our Corporate Leadership Award.”
In accepting the award, Ms. Zaepfel highlighted Uniland’s philanthropic philosophy. “The ultimate satisfaction is to work daily with people and institutions, like Niagara, who share our goal of breaking the cycle of poverty through education and health and wellness, mind, body and spirit which is how we’ll realize the greatness in our community today and the possibilities we can bring forth tomorrow.” She also focused on the power of diversity, a value shared by Niagara and Uniland. “Diversity creates a special richness that adds significant and irreplaceable value. A shared belief that values forge the landscape of our community, as they do our company,” she added.
Additional honorees were Karen L. Howard as Distinguished Accounting Alumnus; Joseph Dash and Dash’s Market as Family Business of the Year; Aditya Jha, C.M., M.Sc., L.L.D., as Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year; and Larry Quinn with the Dean’s Award, respectively. The event was held at the Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls on May 24.
