The Challenge

Accommodate needs of growing staff and students

Summit Educational Resources (now The Summit Center), a private, not-for-profit providing educational and therapeutic services to children with learning, communication and behavioral challenges, needed a new facility to accommodate its growth. The organization set the following parameters:

  1. Find an appropriate building or site in which to relocate
  2. Work with a limited budget
  3. Complete in one year

Use Uniland’s Design/Build process to minimize cost and construction time

A preliminary advisor instructed Summit that they required 81,000 square feet to meet its goals. Size limitations of the site challenged building, playground and parking layouts. Uniland Construction was engaged for its Design/Build services and was able to utilize its in-house Planning, Design and Construction teams to identify an appropriate site and accommodate all of Summit’s needs in 72,000 square feet. This 11% reduction in size produced significant cost and time savings.

A custom facility for specialized educational programs and play

Summit’s state-of-the-art facility was complete in 11 months and now serves more than 1,000 students each year. It holds classrooms and other special-use areas necessary for the specific needs of children with autism. Summit was thoroughly satisfied with the work performed by Uniland Development, and since completion of the project, has engaged the company for two additional projects totaling 55,000 square feet.
