BestSelf Corporate Headquarters & Child Advocacy Center

Uniland led the complete redevelopment of 899 Main Street in downtown Buffalo, transforming the existing building into a new corporate headquarters and Child Advocacy Center at BestSelf Behavioral Health. This $22 million project involved significant renovations, including the addition of a third floor to accommodate BestSelf’s expanding needs. The result is a state-of-the-art facility providing a modern and supportive environment for both BestSelf’s administrative operations and the critical services offered by the Child Advocacy Center.

Avant

This adaptive reuse project transformed a Brutalist 1972 asbestos-laden federal office building spanning an entire city block into a hub for live/work/play environments. Avant features an Embassy Suites hotel, Class A office space, an on-site restaurant and luxury condominiums.

The Delaware North Building

A flagship example of Buffalo’s resurgence, The LEED® Certified Delaware North Building is an iconic 12-story glass walled structure serving as the global headquarters for Delaware North, an international leader in hospitality and food service that was founded over 100 years ago.

People Inc. Health Services Building

Opened in 2021, the People Inc. Health Services Building in North Buffalo is a 32,000-square-foot facility which provides nearby families and communities with affordable healthcare and dental services as well as pharmacy and durable medical equipment. The state-of-the-art medical office space delivers care from People Inc., Evergreen Health, ECMC Dental, and People First Mobility.

Asbury United Methodist Church – Church Construction

The church moved several times throughout the end of the 20th century, worshipping for a while at Gateway-Longview and also at a building on Millersport Highway.

Visiting Nursing Association of WNY – Buffalo, NY

Uniland Development Company takes pride in working with clients to deliver real estate solutions that help them thrive. A recent example is the Visiting Nursing Association of WNY’s new Erie County Headquarters.

Hampton Inn Buffalo-Amherst – Amherst, NY

Uniland Development Company broke ground on its $14.4 million, 107-room Hampton Inn Buffalo – Amherst hotel at The Northtown Center at Amherst Recreation Complex, heralding a new era of sports tourism and innovative design in the region.

Canisius High School – Buffalo, NY

Canisius High School, located in the city of Buffalo, needed additional modern classroom and athletic facilities. The parameters for a successful campus expansion included:

A tight time frame requiring construction be completed before the new school year
Limited on-campus disruptions to students and staff
a strict budget

Summit Educational Resources – Education Construction

Summit Educational Resources, a private, not-for-profit providing educational and therapeutic services to children with learning, communication and behavioral challenges, needed a new facility to accommodate its growth. The organization set the following parameters:

Find an appropriate building or site in which to relocate
Work with a limited budget
Complete in one year

Great Lakes Orthodontics – Office, Manufacturing & Warehouse Space

Create an Office and Manufacturing Facility to Accommodate the Various Needs of a Large Orthodontic Practice

Great Lakes Orthodontics required a new facility for administrative offices, an on-site training center equipped for teaching state-of-the-art fabrication techniques, and its orthodontic laboratory, which is one of the largest in the United States.
Uniland Construction offered the firm a turn-key solution that met all of the client’s requirements: one firm that could handle site selection and acquisition, project design, and construction on a six-month, fast-track basis. A Design/Build contract soon followed.

Sodexo, Inc.

In 2015, Sodexo, Inc., a global provider of integrated facilities management and food service operations, was evaluating how to make their Buffalo operations more efficient. Sodexo’s regional workforce was supporting the company’s human resources, accounting and information technology functions across North America with 500-plus employees working in four buildings in a Uniland office park in Amherst.

MassMutual New York State – Office Space

MassMutual New York State is one of the region’s largest insurance and financial services companies. Since setting up operations at Uniland’s University Corporate Centre in 2008, their workforce has grown. With plans to add more positions and become the hub for Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse account processing, additional space was needed.

Charter School for Applied Technology – School Construction

Charter School requires modern educational facility to accommodate 700 students. In early 2001, Edison Schools, the country’s leading private manager of public schools, approached Uniland to help them identify a site for a new school

Niagara Center – Office Building Construction

In 2004, a potential opportunity to meet the growing demand for federal office space arose in Buffalo’s Central Business District. Undertaking a speculative project of this nature held significant risks, however. No Class A office buildings of significant size were constructed in the 10 years prior, indicating an excessive supply of CBD office space.

Entercom Communications – Amherst, NY

Consolidate and update workspace for employees and visitors Entercom Communication Corporation, the fourth-largest radio broadcasting company in the United States, has been a tenant of Uniland’s University Corporate Parkway for nearly 20 years.

Canisius College Science Hall – Buffalo, NY

2008 Design a 240,000 square-foot state-of-the-art science center. Uniland Development Company has a long standing relationship with Canisius College, the largest private university in Western New York and one of the 28 Jesuit, Catholic colleges in the nation

Canisius College Village Townhouses – Buffalo, NY

Canisius College acquired a 2.5 acre site for student housing to accommodate about 200 students. It needed the project completed within 12 months. The site was bordered by Mt. St. Joseph’s Academy, Medaille College and other Canisius College buildings, all of which were functional with a high level of student activity.

The Bonadio Group – Office Space Amherst, NY

Consolidate multiple Buffalo locations to reduce inefficiencies that were limiting capacity for growth. The Bonadio Group (Bonadio), upstate New York’s largest independent provider of accounting, consulting, and financial services, and a Uniland tenant since 2003, merged with the CPA firm Gaines Kriner Ellicott (GKE) in 2013. GKE had three offices throughout Western New York, including 24,000 square feet at Uniland’s University Corporate Centre (UCC) in Amherst, NY. Bonadio, meanwhile, was located at another Uniland property about six miles away.

Autism Services, Inc. – Educational Workspace

Autism Services, Inc. provides educational programs and support services for children and adults with autism and their families. In 2016, the nonprofit agency sought an enhanced and consolidated school and administration space in a new location

Citigroup Financial Center – Buffalo, NY

Citigroup North America selected Uniland Development Company to design and build a new Western New York financial center within Uniland’s CrossPoint Business Park.

Fidelis Care Office & Data Center- Buffalo, NY

Accommodate the company’s growing operations. Fidelis Care, a Queens, New York-based, non-profit provider of government-sponsored health care programs, sought a site for expansion in the Amherst, New York, area. In addition to consolidating their office and data operations to one location,

The Chapel at CrossPoint – Amherst, NY

The Chapel, an interdenominational Christian church based in Amherst, NY, investigated 50 sites in its long search for one large enough to accommodate its expanding congregation.

GEICO Northeast Operations Center – Buffalo, NY

After an extensive national site search, GEICO, the second-largest auto insurance company in the U.S. and a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies, chose Uniland Development Company to design and build its Northeast Operations Center in Uniland’s CrossPoint Business Park.

285 Delaware Avenue Buffalo, NY

Design and construction limitations due to a small urban site (1) the 1.6-acre site needed to accommodate the building and 100 parking spots (2) All construction work had to be contained on-site (3) The building’s design had to attract Class A businesses, have a modern aesthetic, and co-exist with Delaware Avenue’s stately mansions

Catholic Health

Catholic Health’s headquarters office near the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus serves as the nexus of executive, administrative and training operations for Catholic Health, a fully integrated non-profit healthcare system serving nearly half a million Western New Yorkers. Centrally located in the region, the headquarters office has enabled Catholic Health to consolidate eight previously disparate facilities into a singular facility, with an attached parking garage, for executive, administrative and training operations.

D’Youville University

D’Youville University’s School of Arts, Sciences and Education is an adaptive reuse project enabling an urban campus in a historic neighborhood to enhance their facilities and address growing student enrollment. D’Youville University (formerly D’Youville College) is a private, coeducational, independent college located in the historic Prospect Hill neighborhood on Buffalo’s West Side.

Sheridan Meadows Corporate Park

Sheridan Meadows Corporate Park in Amherst is one of Buffalo Niagara region’s premier Class A office parks offering suites for office and medical clients. Located between the affluent suburbs of Amherst and Clarence, the complex heralded a new era of economic activity along the active commuter and retail corridors of Sheridan Drive and Transit Road during the complexes initial construction in the 1980s and its expansion in the 2000s.

Columbus McKinnon’s facility combines their global headquarters and customer training operations. Columbus McKinnon Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCO) is a leading worldwide manufacturer and distributor of material handling products for commercial and industrial applications.
