Two members of the Uniland Property Management team recently expanded their roles within the industry.
Senior Property Manager Joseph Szabo has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Greater Buffalo. BOMA is a global organization representing the owners and managers of all commercial property types, including nearly 10.5 billion square feet of U.S. office space.
As a Director, Mr. Szabo will support BOMA’s role as a primary source of information on office building development, leasing, building operating costs, energy consumption patterns, local and national building codes, legislation, occupancy statistics and technological developments.
At Uniland, Mr. Szabo manages more than one million square feet of office, industrial, flex and multi-family properties in Western New York. He is responsible for budgeting, capital planning and execution, lease administration and maintaining customer relationships. Mr. Szabo joined Uniland in 2011 as the Physical Plant Manager for the company’s commercial and residential portfolio.
Mr. Szabo is a critical part of Uniland Property Management.
“Joe started off as Physical Plant manager and was promoted to Property Manager and then Senior Property Manager in a relative short time due to his strong work ethic, great people skills, and attitude for providing high level of customer service,” observes Uniland Property Management Director John Dieter.
Property Manager Anthony Burkhart has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) Rochester-Western New York Chapter. In this role, he will advance the chapter as its legislative liaison.
At IREM’s December 2019 meeting, Mr. Burkhart was honored with a Rising Star Award in recognition of his professional achievements, including recently earning Certified Property Manager (CPM) accreditation. IREM is an international institute with 20,000 members dedicated to advancing the profession of real estate management.
IREM’s CPM designation is the premier property management certification anchored by an 18-24 month curriculum covering core competencies for managing property and maximizing its value.
In addition to his work with IREM, Mr. Burkhart serves as Member at Large on the BOMA Rochester Board and is Chair of its Charity Committee.
Mr. Burkhart joined Uniland in 2014 and is property manager for the company’s Rochester portfolio. This includes 550,000 square feet of office space and 100,000 square feet of mixed use development at The Glen at Perinton Hills, Uniland’s expanding, walkable community in Fairport, NY.
Mr. Burkhart is an integral member of the Uniland Rochester team.
“Anthony’s strong work ethic and great customer service skills have been an asset for us and our Rochester clients. He has worked very hard over the last several years to obtain his CPM designation from IREM and we congratulate him on this great achievement,” added Mr. Dieter.
