Uniland Leaders Highlighted on Buffalo Business First Power 250

Since its founding in 1974, Uniland Development Company has been active across Western New York in its support of local businesses, organizations, and workforce development programs whose purpose is to benefit all people across the region.

Uniland Executive Chairman Carl J. Montante, and his son, Chief Executive Officer Michael J. Montante, are ranked high among Buffalo Business First’s Power 250, a list of the most influential Western New Yorkers in 2024. This is the 12th consecutive year that they have been highlighted on the list. Michael was listed No. 27 and Carl was listed No. 114, respectively. Both are active in many organizations in Western New York, including Canisius University, D’Youville University, Catholic Health, the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, the Buffalo Renaissance Foundation, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, and The Buffalo Club.

In 2020, Michael Montante succeeded Carl Montante as the company’s CEO. Carl Montante founded the family-run, privately held firm 50 years ago. Since the company’s origins with a single warehouse in Tonawanda, Uniland has developed more than 16 million square feet throughout the Buffalo-Rochester corridor, including over eight million square feet under management.

FeedMore WNY is advancing a $99 million project to build a 200,000-square-foot facility in Hamburg, addressing critical food supply and distribution space shortages. The unified facility will be located on a 73.8-acre parcel on Camp Road which FeedMore purchased from Uniland in 2021. FeedMore WNY’s mission is to offer dignity, hope, and a brighter future by providing nutritious food, friendship and skills training to our Western New York neighbors in need.
