For over 50 years, Uniland Development Company has been active across Western New York in its support of local businesses, organizations, and workforce development programs whose purpose is to benefit all people across the region. Its leaders seek to strengthen Buffalo’s reputation as the City of Good Neighbors.
Uniland Executive Chairman Carl J. Montante, and his son, Chief Executive Officer Michael J. Montante, are ranked high among Buffalo Business First’s Power 250, a prominent list of the most influential Western New Yorkers in 2025. This is the 13th consecutive year that they have been highlighted on the list. Michael was listed No. 27 and Carl was listed No. 139, respectively. Both are active in many organizations in Western New York, including Canisius University, D’Youville University, Catholic Health, the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, the Buffalo Renaissance Foundation, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, and The Buffalo Club.
In 2020, Michael Montante succeeded Carl Montante as the company’s CEO. Carl Montante founded the family-run, privately held firm in 1974. Since the company’s origins with a single warehouse in Tonawanda, Uniland has developed more than 16 million square feet throughout the Buffalo-Rochester corridor, including over eight million square feet under management. Today, Uniland is the largest Commercial Real Estate Developer in Buffalo, according to Buffalo Business First.
