Many of these core values are being celebrated by Uniland’s Information Technology team at the 2023 InfoTech WNY BETAS Technology Awards. Uniland’s IT team is directed by Chief Operating Officer Paul Evans. The BETAS program honors the best and brightest of the Western New York IT community.
Formed in 1998, InfoTech WNY is a rapidly growing consortium of multi-sized software, hardware, telecommunications companies, government and economic agencies, and educational institutions. The purpose of the organization is to address various industry-specific issues such as workforce availability, industry image, technology transfer, networking, access to financing, and attracting new business to the region.

- Excellent in Tech Service Team – Jenna Frank & Uniland Development Company: Led by Uniland IT Technical Support Manager Jenna Frank, the team has minimized service disruptions, maintained high levels of satisfaction among Uniland’s hundreds of commercial tenants, and enabled the team to launch and enhance multiple innovations like its Uniland Tenant Portal with Yardi Systems, including popular work order tracking on service call status updates, as well as expanded access to client billing history, outstanding invoices, and relevant information such as parking lot closings for repaving and other elements of Uniland’s facility management operations. In addition to launching new systems, the Uniland IT staff handles thousands of system requests annually, answering many in mere minutes and earning an impressive average 4.94 rating out of 5 stars by their internal peers. An alumnus of the University at Buffalo and Canisius University, Ms. Frank has been a member of the Uniland team since 2016.
- Project/Product Excellence – Richard Torcasio, Jr. & Uniland Development Company: From 2020 through 2023, Uniland’s internal IT team worked closely with departmental leaders, company ownership, and various IT vendors to design, test, and ultimately implement MyUniland 2.0, a best-in-class, web-based solution that streamlines Uniland’s mountain of proprietary data as well as mission-critical business applications. A U.S. Navy veteran and an alumnus of The New School, Project Manager Richard Torcasio, Jr., has been a member of the Uniland team since 2002. He led this project which included writing code, troubleshooting integration challenges, and using a SCRUM process to execute the project through its ongoing evolution.
- Rising Star Award – Mark Cole, Uniland Development Company: Leveraging his heroic military service in the civilian realm, Uniland Network Administrator Mark Cole is helping his enterprise embrace emerging technologies while educating his colleagues about the growing array of security vulnerabilities they are encountering in the inboxes, text messages, on the Web, and beyond. As Network Administrator, Mr. Cole’s responsibilities touch all aspects of Uniland’s computer and network systems, with the need to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s IT assets. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. A U.S. Army veteran and Niagara University alumnus, Mr. Cole joined Uniland in 2021.
