Uniland's
Community Involvement

For nearly 50 years, Uniland Development Company has been active across Western New York in its support of local businesses, organizations and development programs whose purpose is to benefit all people across the region. Through our commitment to educational, recreational and socially conscious programs, Uniland helps to build stronger communities.

Our Commitment Includes:

“Unity In Our CommUNIty” conveys Uniland’s corporate and philanthropic culture of partnership, collaboration, and support of the community. The interconnected and alternating shades of Uniland’s dark blue and sky blue colors represent the interconnectivity and diversity of the communities where we conduct business across the region. The position of Uniland’s iconic elm tree in the center reflects our longstanding role as leaders and champions of our community and its broad array of institutions.

In the Community with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra

Uniland Development Company is proud to be a longtime supporter of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the lead corporate sponsor of the BPO’s Diversity Council, a group comprised of community leaders, BPO staff, and musicians. Created in 2016, the BPO’s Diversity Council is leading the way in a national movement to foster greater diversity in the classical music world. Both the BPO and Uniland have a history rooted in this community and are fortunate to work on projects and programs that strengthen our community and our neighbors.

Uniland is proud to highlight our involvement with the following organizations:

  • Willie Hutch Jones

The mission of the Willie Hutch Jones Educational & Sports Programs is to provide every child, at no cost, equal opportunities to engage in the highest quality program and to offer character building activities through academics, sports, and the arts. Uniland is an active supporter of their expanding science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programming and recently donated a passenger van to enable the organization to transport students to educational sites, sports facilities, and field trips.

  • The Exchange at Beverly Gray logo

    Beverly Gray

The Beverly Gray Business Exchange Center serves small businesses on Buffalo’s East Side and throughout Western New York. Uniland has been a corporate supporter for many years and our Vice President of Corporate Relations, Laura A. Zaepfel, is a founding member of their special advisory group. We work with the Exchange to expand economic opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs, especially Minority and Women-Owned Enterprises (M/WBE) and Service-Disabled Veteran–Owned Businesses (SDVOB).

  • Black Achievers

The vision of Buffalo Black Achievers is to empower local youth to excel and go forward by exposing them to the accomplishments of the heroes of our past aiding in their desire to advance our cause through technology. Uniland is the lead corporate sponsor of the Black Achievers Youth Academy, which is transforming the lives of our future community leaders and the workforce of tomorrow. The Academy focuses on assistance with college and scholarship applications, transitioning from high school to college, finding paid internships, identifying mentors and conducts monthly workshops with speakers.

Uniland contributes to our college scholarship fund which has helped us increase both the amount of aid and the number of high school seniors we can help. They also sponsor our gala every year in which the scholarship winners attend. When our young people see and meet other Black Achievers from their community, it helps them to imagine a brighter future.
