Community Commitment

Uniland was founded in Western New York and pledges daily to build a better community through our time, talent and treasure.

  • Time

Volunteer more than 1,000 hours a year through community-based causes of the associates’ choosing and company-sponsored programs with our charitable partners.

  • Talent

Offer leadership and professional skills to 80 organizations from the Buffalo-Niagara and Rochester regions, as well as groups having a statewide, national and international reach.

  • Treasure

Help fund more than 160 organizations that provide education, health, faith and cultural services to the community.

Our Community Connections

Western New York is our home. Uniland has always found a way to assist the people, programs and organizations that improve the well-being of our communities, and Uniland attracts associates who enjoy serving their community. Uniland provides paid time off for associates to volunteer such as building houses with Habitat for Humanity and packing meals for the food bank. Uniland recorded more than 350 volunteer hours in the first program year alone.

Our Philanthropy Philosophy

Our goal is to help break the cycle of poverty. We believe that, with good health and a solid education, all things are possible. Therefore, we emphasize supporting the health, wellness, educational and cultural needs of our diverse population so that we may have a stronger community and a greater quality of life. Associates serve on a monthly donations committee to help distribute our philanthropy budget.

Workforce Development

Uniland promotes access to workforce development and higher education. We employ interns and apprentices, mentor students, and advise schools on relevant coursework to prepare the next generation. Uniland is a behind-the-scenes organizer and aligns with other community efforts to equip the underemployed and unemployed with the skills necessary to prepare for in-demand jobs, especially in the construction trades. With the right education and training, we can create a diverse workforce and a sustainable economy in our community.

Uniland contributes to our college scholarship fund which has helped us increase both the amount of aid and the number of high school seniors we can help. They also sponsor our gala every year in which the scholarship winners attend. When our young people see and meet other Black Achievers from their community, it helps them to imagine a brighter future.
